WE HAVE A NEW WEBSITE:

Thank you so much for visiting our website! We have rebranded and now have a new business name and website. We are so excited to share this exciting news and our journey with all of you.

As some of you may know, we got engaged in August of 2016 under a gorgeous waterfall in Big Sur, California. We always knew that the day would come when we would change our business name (since Katie Guth is becoming Katie DeGroot among other reasons!), and we're thrilled that this day has finally arrived! So, here we are, formally introducing you to DeGroot Film Co.! :)

We worked long and hard to build our new brand and website, catering to the style and wedding vibes that we can't get enough of. It has been a long journey together starting with just wedding photography and then beginning to offer videography as well. We have traveled the country together capturing precious moments for so many love stories. You guys give us life!

So, we want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for following our journey and for always supporting us! With that being said, you can stay up to date with our work and contact us through our new website.

We are now:

DeGroot Film Co.

My Very First Blog Post!

Hello to all of my lovely followers! I am so excited to begin this journey with all of you. (:

For the last five and a half years, I have been working towards a dream. I wanted to photograph. I wanted to capture moments to give others the feeling that I feel inside. A deep rooted love for something so much bigger than 'reality'. A moment in time. Magic. A feeling of love, freedom & bliss all put into one simple thing. One simple treasure.

I started out in a Graphic Arts class, working with an amazing teacher and two giggly goofy gals just like myself. I LOVED THE DARKROOM. I couldn't get enough. It was like discovering something so unbelievable and untouchable, but REAL. The best part - I, a senior in high school who was feeling the pressures of my world changing, was creating things. And these 'things' were art & expression.

I went on to study photography for the next four years at Concordia University of Wisconsin, and co-oping with the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Boy, was it TOUGH. One school is heavily Christian and one is an art school with endless forms of open expression and harsh critics. But you know what? I loved them both. I felt like I had two personalities and one that was hiding (the hippie, free-spirited artist) was finally starting to show and it felt so RIGHT. Between darkrooms to MACs and classmates to critiques, I spent a lot of time, and money, to teach myself and learn something that I loved. It was an amazing experience and I'm STILL growing and learning and teaching myself new things EVERY day. (: It's purely a blessing and I'm so very thankful for my biggest fans - my family and friends and each and every one of you that has grown with me and believes in me!

I have now been graduated from college for nearly a year and have started growing Katie Guth Photography. I work very hard to continue to grow and expand and would love for you to follow me on this journey. (:
