As some of you might know, I’ve been trying to decide
whether or not to add some ‘personal’ posts to my professional blog. I’ve
realized that, the more that I’ve pondered the thought, some of my biggest
inspirations (other photographers) all do just that. They get close and
personal in showing their clients their lives. I don’t plan to share the gory
details of everyday life or the details behind my relationships with Devin, my
family, and my friends. Rather, I’d like to open up to my followers, to share
my life behind the lens, in a more journalistic way. I’d like to share simple
projects or DIY with you. I’d like to share random thoughts, and possibly
struggles. I’d like to share travels and adventures with you.
A lot of thinking, planning, and observing has been going on
in my head lately. It is a new year, afterall, and a time to reflect on the
previous year. There have been some huge changes within my family this past
year. Devin and I traveled to California for a week. My little sister graduated
high school, and my big sister got married. The three ‘Guth Girls’ now have a
Mrs. Roberts instead. Nevertheless, she’s still a ‘Guth Girl.’ I’ve spent most
of my time working at my full time job and building my photography business on
the side... so much so that I can’t wrap my head around the fact that this past year
has already ended.
So it’s now January and there’s suddenly this huge open
canvas of ideas and opportunities waiting to be chosen and achieved. We have
plans that are both so exciting and still so scary. Of course we are hoping
that things go as planned, but the simple reality is that they do not. I hope
that my business continues to grow and that clients really get a feel for who I
am and what art I can produce for you. What lies ahead is unknown, but it has
always been that way. We have to embrace new beginnings with open arms and open
hearts and truly allow ourselves to fail in order to understand the correct way
to succeed. Then again, there are multiple ‘correct ways.’
