Thank you so much for visiting our website! We have rebranded and now have a new business name and website. We are so excited to share this exciting news and our journey with all of you.

As some of you may know, we got engaged in August of 2016 under a gorgeous waterfall in Big Sur, California. We always knew that the day would come when we would change our business name (since Katie Guth is becoming Katie DeGroot among other reasons!), and we're thrilled that this day has finally arrived! So, here we are, formally introducing you to DeGroot Film Co.! :)

We worked long and hard to build our new brand and website, catering to the style and wedding vibes that we can't get enough of. It has been a long journey together starting with just wedding photography and then beginning to offer videography as well. We have traveled the country together capturing precious moments for so many love stories. You guys give us life!

So, we want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for following our journey and for always supporting us! With that being said, you can stay up to date with our work and contact us through our new website.

We are now:

DeGroot Film Co.

Surprise Proposal Photographer | Devil's Lake State Park | Waukesha, Milwaukee, Madison Photographer

When Mike contacted us about his surprise proposal at Devil's Lake State Park the day after Christmas, we knew we had to make it happen! We were so excited to meet with him & start planning his proposal to his girlfriend, Julie. We were set to arrive at the North Shore Visitor's Center at 9am & accidentally bump into them while looking at maps. We had an entire cover story about being from out of town & asked if they would mind if we hiked along with them & maybe take some photos for our portfolio. Julie had no clue & was completely on board with having us tag along with them!

It just so happens that there were 45 mph winds that morning, which definitely made the whole experience even more fun. We got to the top of the bluff, to an open spot like Mike had wanted & we used our code phrase "would you mind taking off your jackets for this one?" to let Mike know we were ready. We positioned them to be facing each other & Julie was looking at us to get confirmation for where she was standing as Mike grabbed the ring box out of his pocket. She turned to look & him & thought that he was pranking her at first! She of course said yes & the rest of the morning was spent photographing them, chatting about how we had planned everything & filling Julie in on all of the fun little details, like how Mike had had the ring for a year already!

Enjoy, xoxo
